Experience the beauty of the night sky at Sully Woodlands from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Learn about the constellations, the visible planets and meteors around a campfire. S’mores will be provided. Come early to picnic or toast hotdogs. Bring toasting sticks, blankets and a flashlight. The fee is $5 per person. For reservations, call Cub Run RECenter at 703-817-9407

Springfield Days and Movie in the Park

From 2 to 8 p.m. enjoy an afternoon full of family fun activities as nature centers and historic sites showcase the community’s abundant natural and cultural resources with costumed interpreters, historic children’s games, nature walks and talks, and a meet and greet with farm animals at South Run RECenter. Enjoy ice cream and fair food and tour the park on a tractor-pulled wagon ride. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs for an outdoor showing of the animated film Fantastic Mr. Fox beginning at dark. Meet a naturalist by Walney Pond from 10 a.m. until noon at Ellanor C. Lawrence Park. Bring boots that can get wet and get ready to find out who is living under the water at the pond’s edge. Grain Grinding Demonstration

Watch as the miller and his “dusties” harness the power of the 20-foot waterwheel to run Colvin Run Mill’s grinding machinery from noon to 3 p.m. The tour costs $6 for adults, $5 for students 16 and up, and $4 for children and seniors. For more information, call 703-759-2771.
